Twenty days...

Hard to believe it's more than two weeks since I've posted. I left you with the new warp wound on and ready to tie on. This past week I finally finished that job and wove a bit. But on the whole I spent the time realizing I had a health problem and beginning to resolve it.

At a six month check up with one of my doctors, I had a frighteningly high blood pressure. I spent quite a few hours in emergency, but was sent home and advised to see my PCP quickly. That took another week. I'm back on my old blood pressure meds, which really aren't controlling the situation. However, I do feel better, am sleeping less and have my next appointment in another week.

And so, I've been weaving. Finally. Lots of new warp, and perhaps two or three new towels on the beam. That's good.

We finally have color in the trees. Actually, this past week has been the peak. I have some nice pictures from out and about.

The "resident's" garden has been put away for the winter. My dipladenia has been brought in and hung in the atrium. We'll see what becomes of it.

I finally prevailed with the Cleveland Clinic over a bill from last August. A five hundred fifty odd dollar bill. For as long as I can recall, Medicare has picked up an annual eye exam. I now understand it is only for some conditions, but for the last fifteen years I've met the criteria.

This time I have a new eye doctor. When I first saw the last one, some time in the eighties, I was pleased to have found a young one who would outlast me. Well, he retired and now it's a new young 'un. But someone didn't check the coding and I had a full freight bill.

Every time I checked up on correcting it, either it was being reviewed or they could find no record of all the previous bills. That was the story the last time I called and the billing department person patiently reiterated in indecipherable accent they would set up a payment plan.

Finally I yelled "Shut up! Listen to me! You have made a mistake and need to figure it out." I hung up and began reading Medicare eye exam rules. I still did not understand why I had not been billed all these years but was billed now. But the next day I looked at my statement on line again, and the invoice was gone. So, we'll see.

Well, I don't like the polls, but I don't believe them, either. We'll see.

  4. I forgot to say I hope you get the bp low enough for safety soon.

  5. Sorry to hear about the health challenges. You'll get on top of it and they'll have to figure out the bill for the eye examination.

  6. Lovely colors on the trees AND on your loo,

  7. Medical billing is the work of the devil. Kudos for getting their attention. Hope your BP gets where it should be. Mine has been creeping up, I've been ignoring it. Guess I should stop doing that.

  8. Love those leaves - and that blue is a really pretty colour.
Medical billing is a nightmare - as is getting them to admit that they have made a mistake - much less fixing it.
I watch the news about your election and worry. Rather a lot.

  9. Anything to do with high blood pressure is scary. Hope that all gets sorted out soon and your old meds get an upgrade that works. Sounds like yelling did the trick with the eye doctors bill? Hopefully!

  10. Love the autumn colors! And good luck with the eye dr. bill. Medicare takes care of DH's annual eye bill because of his diabetes, I think... but not mine.

  11. Your tree photos are just lovely. What wonderful color we have had this year. I don't get the vision thing either. Somehow my eye doctor was able to get mine covered so I guess his billing specialist was on her A-game.
Blood pressure is scary. I hope they get it sorted. I went through quite a time many years ago and have been on the same medicine for about two decades. Every once in a while some whippersnapper thinks we should change it up and I refuse. Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

  12. I love the autumn colors, particularly oranges and reds! Sorry about the high B/P and hope they can bring it down. That's scary. I have to pay for my eye exams; they are expensive indeed.

  13. What great fall colors. Take care Joanne.

  14. I'm always so envious of the glorious colours you have in Autumn - here the leaves just go brown!

  15. Here’s another with green eyes over your Autumn foliage. Those colours are grand …..so warm and comforting.

  18. Dealing with the bureaucratic mind is never easy! If Trump gets back into the White House that will really make your blood pressure soar!

  19. I'm so glad to see you back after two weeks! Even though I saw you in my comments, it's not the same as a good catch-up.
Ha, ha, as David says above--politics and blood pressure are a bad match. Don't look for the next 9 days...
    Beautiful fall colors, beautiful warp.

  20. Beautiful autumn colours, dear Joanne! I hope that sight might bring your blood pressure down by calming the nerves (though winter might even be better). Was there a connection between the blood pressure and that unrightfully high bill from the eye doctor?

  21. Yep, new docs didn't do the coding correctly. If you have something wrong, like glaucoma, Medicare covers it as a medical condition, not an eye condition. The only thing we should pay for is the refraction exam where they figure out the new prescription for your eyeglasses. And of course, unless you have a vision plan, we gotta pay for new frames and lenses. LOVE that response you gave them! Seemed to work! I advanced voted for the good girl! Linda in Kansas

  22. Glad you are recovering and doing battle.

" I left you with the new warp wound"

I was wondering what a warp wound was and how you got it. Then I read on. :)

    It's early. :)

  23. So many organisations nowadays don't want to admit mistakes and blame the customer if they can. Hopefully you have prevailed.

  24. I hope the weaving is calming for your blood pressure and that they get the meds straight. Good for you in getting the eye bill canceled. The doctor's coding makes all the difference.
I voted early and am hoping for a Blue wave all across the country.

  25. That's scary, Joanne. Blood pressure is not easy to control in my experience. I have a feeling that many of us are suffering from higher numbers right now due to this election. I don't like the polls either but who are they polling? Neither I nor anyone I know has ever been polled.
That color of blue is so very soothing. Let us concentrate on that and the blue fall sky. Your leaves are beautiful.
Please be well. You are loved.

  26. I kept getting billed for one of my procedures when I paid at check in and had the receipt to prove it. phone calls and emails did not resolve it so when I went in for the last TEE we brought it up, showed the receipt. what happened was that they switched to a new system and there was a glitch. she checked my account which did not show anything due, told me to just ignore any future bills, it would eventually get resolved.

save me one of those blue towels.

  27. Insteads of reading polls people need to get out snd vote.

  28. I've voted for KH and am very proud to say so.
Medical billing is a nightmare. I am glad you got the billing problem resolved.
BP is something to be managed closely and medication is readily available to do so. You are a pro and will get this resolved too.

  29. Greetings, my friend. Dealing with that bill didn't help your blood pressure. Are you able to check your BP regularly? I'm concerned about you. Your fall foliage is beautiful. I also like that shade of blue on the loom.

    Love,
    Janie

  30. I'm sorry for your aggravation over the eye bill and I hope your blood pressure can be controlled. I voted early. Now I wait, and not with a great deal of confidence. Your fall colors are beautiful.

  31. Try coconut water for your BP. Husband's doctor suggested it and it worked. Fine, we had our own nuts...but I suggested it to one of my mother's friends in the U.K. where she could only buy it in the supermarket and that worked too.

  32. Incorrect billing can be such a nightmare to get corrected. Hope the issue is resolved now, Joanne.

  33. The leaves are stunning. Hope you get to feeling better.

  34. Oh gee... that billing thing is such a headache. Wow! I'm sorry about your blood pressure. That's scary, Joanne. I hope those pills will work better now. My mom and Art have to take the BP pills too. I am terrified of this election!!! I just don't understand the MAGA people!

  35. Dealing with customer service will cause high blood pressure, I believe.

I joke, but it is not something to mess with, and I hope that they are able to get it all under control for you.

  36. Uh oh... I wrote a comment and I don't know if it went through.
Just wanted to say I'm so glad you were able to prevail over that terrible billing fiasco. How wonderful that you're able to see the fall colors. That's one thing I miss in Hawaii.
