What did you do today?

This is our interrogation over supper, "What did you do today?"  It generally is a long recitation of Laura's classes, and a quick overview of my pursuits.  This week, however, is AIR exams for many of her classmates.

Laura is not required to take these tests, why I do not recall. Her day thus begins at ten and was abbreviated. When she wrapped the last class, all I said was "That's nice. This is really good tonight. How is it different?"

I was down to the last ravioli, and realized I should take its picture. In fairness, the cheese ravioli were good, but the sauce was my question. The ravioli came from the refrigerator cooler at Kreigers.

As I was sewing and listening Laura work on dinner, I did hear the little food processor at work. So, her rundown of the sauce started with a new brand of sauce.

I know that few things from the store escape her attention, and sure enough, our sauce also included some hamburger, a handful of spinach, garlic cloves, and oregano and thyme. Don't quote me on the last two; I don't pay a lot of attention to her spice closet.

It was mighty fine.

Toby, balanced on the arm of my office chair, sulking because his girlfriend is not home!

What did I do all day? Took a shower, washed my hair, went to breakfast with Lynn. Changed my sheets, washed sheets and clothes, finished fulling, cutting and hemming the last six towels from the loom's towel warp.

I've been invited to join an art show at the end of the month. Here is my stock:

Well, I won't take up much room. I think there are forty towels there. Not going back to count. Now I need to work out the details of a folded business card printed on four sides. Being a weaver isn't easy.

You have both been busy and productive.
How I love your towels. They are in very, very regular use.

  2. Your towels get daily use at my house, and I love them.

I like the sound of Laura's sauce. I have the stuff to make a lasagne florentine in the fridge but as my husband's still sick, I'm holding off on making it. Tonight I'm getting take put Chinese for dinner....stir fry veggies and rice for me, egg drop soup for the mister.

  4. Ooo, an art show! Fun! I hope you do fantastic there. I expect you'll have a lot of takers for those towels. They are excellent. Should sell themselves!

Love the picture of Toby. And that supper looks mighty fine.

  5. It's nice when someone cooks us a home made tasty meal. I often add things to store bought sauce when I don't have fixings to make it from scratch. Some store bought ready made it better than others but I just buy whatever is on sale. Have fun at the art show. I know your towels will be snapped up before you can blink.

  6. Toby has pretty blue eyes. I like cats, I miss having one. Does Toby go outside? Living where we do, with the coyotes and hawks, I would be afraid to allow a cat outside, and keeping them in all the time seems cruel. There are many dogs around, but I have not seen any cats here. Dinner sounded good.

    1. Toby is an indoor cat. Outdoors is toooooo biiiiig, and he's never attempted it. I believe that's because I rescued him at 4 pounds from a Pittsburgh parking lot. My vet said 4 pounds is 4 weeks, and he was on his last day before I picked him up and brought him home. He's en guarde at windows and smells the air at the screen door crack and that's it. Oh, and careens from window to window to window in pursuit of a dog.

  10. I use the first pink towels all the time. However, the green ones are “decorative” and I want to keep them that way as long as possible. They are so pretty and I love them and go do well with the small rug in my kitchen.

You do very well with filling your days. It is a job just doing that. I write lists the night before so I feel I am accomplishing something. I would have never imagined doing so ten years ago.

  15. I admire your towels every day! My kitties are scaredy cats too. Very brave on the window sill mind you.
Didn't do much today beyond shopping for some sock yarn. Al five of my kids have birthdays coming soon so this momma and the arthritic hands need to get busy.

  16. I would be very happy to buy some of your towels, they are wonderful.

  17. Cheese ravioli! I haven't had that in soooo long. I must add it to the shopping list. I use "jar" sauce too and add extras like more garlic, oregano, grated zucchini and mushrooms, since I don't like meat in my spaghetti sauce.
Have fun at the art show :)

  18. As the delighted owner of a pair of your towels, I know how well received they'll be at the art show. They actually make drying up a pleasure!
It's lovely to be able to enjoy local Arts and Crafts shows again, now the winter's finally clearing up, and to see what people have coming up with lately.

  19. It can be surprising just how much gets done every day, even when you think you haven't achieved anything.
    Enjoy the show!

  20. The Scottish whisky distilleries are constantly taking non-Scottish companies to court over using the word 'glen' in their brand names. God knows what they would think about Glen Muir tomato sauce.

    1. I hadn't put a thought to the etymology of Glen Muir. We rattle on about appropriating other cultures, but that can be a hard sell in this land of immigrants. John Muir was "Father of the National Parks," for example. Maybe someday I'll look into it. Good sauce.

  21. I hope you do well at the art show, your towels are wonderfully absorbent.

Laura sounds creative in her cooking. You will miss her.

On my nothing days I am shocked at how much I get done. You too :)

  22. I am amazed at her complete accounting of the day. Nobody in our family is like that.

  23. Your dinner reminded me of mine which also contained jarred sauce and about seven different sorts of vegetables in it. So good.
It's cool that Laura shares her day's events with you. You two are going to miss each other.

and I still wish you had considered a few runners with the towel warp. :)

  25. That sauce looks fabulous - how nice for both of you that she is interested in cooking. Good luck at the art show - your work is superb! My cat, Slimmie, is fascinated with the outdoors, but has never ventured out, thank goodness. He is not equipped with survival skills...

  26. I haven't been doing much the past few days except enjoy the nice weather we're having and think about things I should or could be doing. (I need to make a trip to the hardware store.) In fact, I didn't roll out of bed til about 9:20 this morning. I have no idea why I'm sleeping so late these days.

  27. We picked our daughter up at her friends house with a trunk load of stuff, picked up her prescriptions, came back and had coffee with the group and now we're headed out for supper. You'll do well at the art show. Our cleaning lady was admiring your towels.

  28. A card printed on 4 sides. I have never been able to reliably deliver that kind of thing, at least not one with all the writing the correct way up.

  29. I had a "mental health day" yesterday, which meant I set my mind to "idle". Did a few chores, popped corn, watched a TV documentary on the New York accent. Getting ready to have 13 people for Easter dinner. (No, they aren't on the menu; they are guests.)
