Since you last heard from me...

Yesterday was such a nice day. I opened the door, and it swung shut, several times in a row. So much for a strange winter and shifting foundations. I slid Fat Man over to do his old job.

I've mostly been weaving. The stack on the left is called "cayenne". Pretty close. Then two of the plum color from the previous warp, and some cream.  I try to finish a warp in the color of the warp, rather than risk coming up short of weft.

Today has rained all day. At lunch time there was an email that my new warp was delivered, to my mailbox. Our mailboxes are communal, with boxes on the lower tier of various sizes for delivery of packages.

I retrieved my box of warp in a reusable grocery bag from the car's back seat. The box was ten or twelve pounds, and I managed it with no fear being in trouble. But what a long way still to go!

Back in the loom room, a glance out at the wet, wet weather. Today was in the fifties and rain all day. Tomorrow the same, then back to winter on Friday.

The cone flowers out the window have great sections of seeds missing. I have never had a cone flower from seed, so I will put the missing seeds down to sparrows.

And that is most of the news that's fit to print. Laura passed her follow up joint smoking test, as she should have.

Tomorrow I need to make a trip to the post office, and I believe I'll stop at management's office and see if any plans for one bedroom units have arrived. Sadly, probably nothing until February, the longest month of the year, is past.

  2. We just got rained on, so most of our snow disappeared. I do love the cayenne colour! -Jenn

  3. You have some vibrant colors for your towels. You'll be busy for a while.

  4. I love the cayenne color too! And I want you to know that I'm really enjoying the green towels you sent me. I use them every day. :) Thank you again!

  5. Like Jennifer, I am in love with your towels. Every time I touch one of them, I smile.
Thank you. You bring happiness to my every-day life.

  6. Is that Teal I see in the middle of the box? That's my absolute favourite of all the colours! Quite a bit of my bedroom furniture is that colour :)
I'm glad Laura passed her follow up test. I hope February doesn't pass as slowly as you think it might, it is the shortest month on the calendar, I'd like your move and settling in to be all over asap.
Love "fatman" doing his job so well.

  7. The mild and winter cycles this year are continuing here too. Scary to think of the future for the grandkids.

  8. Love your towels. And am very, very pleased that Laura learnt her painful lesson and passed the follow up test.
I hope your move happens sooner than expected.

  10. Fat Man is cool :)

I'm glad Laura passed her test. Good for her.

You are a force of nature, Joanne. I hope your bones are mending well and your shoulder is improving since surgery.

    1. My shoulder is exactly what was promised--no pain and as much mobility as before; more if I worked for it. It's like heaven. My leg hurts less and less. I'm working for it, too, but I foresee a looooooong time until I can quit watching my feet.

    2. Excellent news on the shoulder. I expect your weaving is helping make the most of things, too. I hope your leg catches up in the pain-free department very soon. In the meantime, I'm glad you're being extra-careful.

  11. The towels look lovely and the colors are so nice. I treasure the ones you sent me, and I think of you when I use them.

Won’t Laura be with you till she graduates?

    1. No. And since she has not succeeded in creating Lauraland here, she can give it a try at her mother/stepfather's home. I did give her to the end of term, and at her mother's insistence, she accepted.

  14. You're not kidding that February is the longest month of the year. Every day seems like a week, especially if the weather is cold and/or rotten, which it usually is!

  15. Good that Laura passed, I knew she would, but good to hear that she did! I always think February is a short month, but if one is waiting for spring like weather, it can indeed be very long!

    1. Lynn and I are going to breakfast a week from tomorrow, and, among other things, will click oatmeal spoons to the month being half over.

    1. He used to stop the front door at my great-grandparents' home on the near west side of Cleveland. Her nephews stripped the house when she went to a nursing facility. The Fat Man apparently was of no perceived value. They did take the other door stop, a painted, cast iron bull dog. So I picked up the Fat Man and walked right out the front door!

  20. it's been wet here too. in the 70s all week but tonight it will get cold again, then one cold day and then warm. but I'm tired of the wet. I'll regret saying that in the middle of our summer drought. I have a beetle doorstop.

  27. I haven't blogged much. I haven't had the energy because a very needy person in our family has taken up too much of my bandwidth. I have to learn not to let her troubles get to me so much. Nothing I can do about them anyway, but somehow I let myself be seduced into thinking that fretting might help. Meanwhile, I see so many interesting blogs to explore, and yours looks like one of the most promising. Looking forward to reading the "back story."

  28. That appears to be one of the all time great door stops.
