The first 5:15 phone call this winter. A.M., that is

No school today.

One day I will get the top of the oak tree into the frame.

My road is not plowed; I'm home until it is.

Snow ball fight.

Today they will bake cookies for the road crew.

  4. How neat for them to bake cookies for the road crew :) Well, pretty good if you made it to the middle of February without a snow day until now!

    1. My brother in law. He bought a snowblower about twenty years ago. Calls it Big Red.

  8. Our snow is gone already, melted by a sea breeze.

Cookies, that'll get them to plow your road first.

    1. Sadly, Joe, we're down to one road guy; the other is out two months with a rib injury. The new guy is taking being a one man crew on twelve miles of road right in stride. Also, sadly, my road is the last in the township.

I'm almost wishing it was like that here - but we've been in a full-strength 'car wash' all day - no white to be seen. YAM xx

  11. I enlarged your photos so I could see them really well. That snow is beautiful, but I'm not too sad that you've got it and I don't :-)

  12. Those photographs of snowball fights could be impressionist paintings - brilliant.

  13. What a nice thing to do for the road crew! It will be busy for them today, for sure - tomorrow and the next day as well, I imagine.

  15. I know it is a pain in the neck but isn't it beautiful?

  16. I would be glad the road was not plowed... and have a free snow day for all!

  17. The good thing about being the last to get plowed is you have a good excuse to stay home and bake cookies and read and knit... and fill bird feeders. There's something about being stranded that makes a person hunker down, make soup and just settle in.

  18. Turn your camera on its side and take a vertical image of the oak tree.
Love seeing the snowball fight and that's a cute snowman.
I may make cookies myself soon, it's been almost a year since the last batch.

  19. Much more snow than we received. I remember, barely, loving snow when I was younger... snowball fights and sledding galore!

Making cookies for the road crew is a very sweet gesture.

  20. The fresh snow is always beautiful, watching kids having fun I it is delightful, shoveling out and driving on ice is the pits. Warm weather has appeared and oh, how lovely that is.
