Cutting, pinning, ironing, sewing. That's all it takes. This will go to Jan this week, for quilting on Friday.
I sewed all the long rows to their lavender headers and footers. Laura pinned and sewed all the rest. I ironed a lot, and that's really tiring. Last picture is Kay, folding the fabric that will be the back of the quilt.
So, who sees the one block that is a sewing mistake in the first picture. I saw it as soon as I looked at the picture, and went to tell Laura. But, she had already spotted and fixed it.
It all looks good to me.
ReplyDeleteTook me a minute, but I found the mistake. Absolutely beautiful job! I love what the lavender headers and footers did to the overall look, and that backing is glorious! Kay's mom doesn't need anything else for Christmas. That quilt is enough. I appreciate all the love that went into it.
ReplyDeleteAdorable
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I'm so impressed with Laura's skills. But then she learned from the best. (I didn't see the block until you told us to go look!)

ReplyDeletemmmmmmm nope, still looking! It is a beautiful item. I can't iron more than two items in a row these days - it gets my back something terrible. Well done team!!! YAM xx
beautiful! the lavender bars really make it and the sewing looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteI don't find any mistakes. Sometimes I spot something a mile away, other times not. It all looks good but glad you and Laura found the error and fixed it. The quilt looks beautiful so far. Well done to all of you.
ReplyDeleteSure looks like a fun quilt
ReplyDeleteIt looks glorious. I am so glad that you and Laura found and fixed the mistake and love the headers and the backing.
ReplyDeleteYou make it sound simple, but blood, sweat and tears went into the only piece I did. Curves are a cow.
I can't sew curves. Only experts can.
DeleteOr ignorant amateurs. I can't tell you how many times some pieces were unpicked and resewn.
DeleteIt looks like the time of completion is near.
ReplyDeleteI don’t see the mistake, Joanne. It will be gorgeous when complete. Love it!
ReplyDeleteA real beauty you all created.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding! I even forgot who it is for but she will love it I know.
ReplyDeleteWhat an heirloom keepsake that quilt will be!
ReplyDeleteOne row up from the bottom and one block in from the left....Good for Laura spotting and fixing it...I am so impressed with your application getting this done! It does look great and Kay's Mom will be thrilled, and have a treasure to keep her warm.
ReplyDeleteThe top looks great and the backing is the perfect mix of colours for it.
ReplyDeleteI made a game of spotting the one the wrong way round, it took me quite a while with my untrained eye! You two are quick as lightning. It is great.
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect to me.Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI honestly didn't see the mistake until you pointed it out. The lavender sashing is really really nice! Job well done girls!
ReplyDeleteI needed it pointing out but well done to Laura for spotting it. It is going to look lovely.
ReplyDeleteA masterpiece...and on to the next quilt?!
ReplyDeletevery nice job!
ReplyDeleteCreating an interest of this craft in her - how could there be any mistakes at all? You have done a wonderful job for a long time.
ReplyDeleteLovely. Excellent work.
ReplyDeleteLovely colours ... the whole thing is a real work of art and will be the perfect present .
ReplyDeleteYou've all worked so hard !
Looks great, Joanne. I'm no great quilter, but sometime when I'm piecing, I can't see the best way for the pieces to go together unless I take a picture. The picture helps me immensely in 'seeing' it from a different perspective. I find this helpful even when working with clay.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. A lovely joint project for a special present.
ReplyDeleteDear Joanne, a vibrant quilt! Thanks for sharing with us all the steps that go into the making of such a treasure. I hope you didn't tire yourself out too much. Peace.
ReplyDeleteThanks go to Thickethouse!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt will be treasured for decades. Be sure to sew a piece on the backing, siting who did what and the date.
Row 5 pic 2? I wouldn't have noticed had you not sent me back to look. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think the Amish deliberately include a flaw in their quilts in the belief only God is perfect. That is a beauty.
