Trying something new

I have several shelves of thread to weave with.
I don't care for much of it.

More than a little is too heavy for shirts I want to make.
It will go to the Art Institute soon.

In the meantime, what to do.

This warp has 30 ends per inch;
Twenty are cotton slub and the other ten are any interesting thing on the shelf.
I wove off in periwinkle.

Not exciting.

Until I turned it sideways.

It's taking me too long to weave right now.
I spent three or four days weaving the small, one pound cone of periwinkle,
and another several days getting it ready to cut and sew.

Today I made exactly one shirt.
Tomorrow I'll make the other two sizes, for Etsy, and get them posted.

I am so slow because my back is uncompromisingly painful.
No quarter given.

However, I am finally through four months of protocol.
A week from Monday

I can tell you all about radiofrequency ablation.

Well,maybe Tuesday.

  2. Joanne, I really REALLY hope this works for you, I hate thinking of you in so much pain. Protocols can really suck, especially when you need relief right now.

    Sending warm thoughts.

  7. getting old is not for sissies. I had to stop several times while I was doing the cold work on the last 7 castings because my thumb joints were screaming and my fingers were cramping. Hope the whatever it is brings relief.

  10. I know what radiofrequency ablation is; I do hope it works for you. That would not be fun to want to weave and not have a back that is cooperating for you to do so.

I have found that with some of my art at times... it makes no sense till it slips sideways!!! That's a good-looking combo. As to the other, you have my best of wishes also. YAM xx

  17. You have my sympathy about your back, my took forever to settle down. Have a good, safe trip to North Carolina.

  18. A bad back is very limiting. I hope your new treatment helps, so you can get back to the things you want to do. Just remember to pace yourself!

  19. Glad the ablation whatever is done -- and that you are headed out on a trip. I'm fascinated by those that find love in the texture and color of threads and fabric. I have two friends who I ended up in a store filled with such notions. I found their enthusiasm marveling. And then I found myself a bar while they did two more hours on top the one I'd done with them. Ha! Enjoy yourself.

    1. I can see how that can happen. I've been stuck between quilters, myself.

  22. But regardless of the situation with your back, you don't quit. What a gal!! I love the little top you did. And I changed browsers--I'm able to comment again. Nothing worse than tying the tongue of a writer/talker. Blessings of healing to all that supports you (including your back).
