Some folks live on the wrong side of the tracks. I live on
the wrong side of the river. The only way north is down and up.
I took Hamilton to church this morning. Down Steels Corners
Road, up Sand Run. As I left the church parking lot, white flakes commenced. Two
hours later, an inch of flakes on top of the old snow. There will be another
inch when I leave to bring him home. Down into the valley, up the other side.
How I hope those trucks are out now, salting those windy, 15% grade, narrow, stinkin’
roads that are uphill both ways!
I promised the girls a trip to the bird seed store after
lunch. It’s south!

ReplyDeleteIt seems that the same meteorological phenomenon which is causing all your white stuff is responsible for all the wet stuff over in the UK. Time it took a rest. But till then we can but do our best.
Drive safe. YAM xx
I'm just amazed that you are such a stoic driver in this weather. I am a total chicken. I DETEST driving in snow or icy weather and am one of those white knuckled drivers you sometimes see, clutching the wheel and looking terrified.
ReplyDeleteYour area sounds like the one I just left in KY -- hilly. I found out even a small hill can prevent an uphill climb when there is snow. It has been an interesting season for so many. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteIt's been quite the winter...I think we'll have a blogfest party on the first day of spring.
ReplyDeleteJust dug a weeks worth of firewood out from under this winter's accumulated snow.It has to be over with soon...we are all exhausted.

Bill keeps saying we did something right this year... got away from all that snow and ice... but, you know... I kind of miss it.... well, at least a little.
ReplyDeleteI have friends in Wisconsin who decided to stay, not go to Florida this year. Then the cold hit and the propane shortage. When the tank ran low he calculated it would cost less to drive to Florida and rent a condo than to fill the tank. They went.
DeleteI think getting Bird Seeds is a good reason to go out of your way.
ReplyDeleteI have limited my shopping to the minimum until no new snow falls.
A river runs through our town and the next, and there are very few places to cross over.
ReplyDeleteSo cold so much snow it all seems so odd when we are still in our summer and our country is in drought.
ReplyDeleteMerle.................
The snow must seem endless - but Spring has got to be out there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteYou are a driving (and grandmothering) star. The birds will love you too.
ReplyDeleteI think (hope) we had our last blast of snow last week. I hope your's lets up soon.
ReplyDeleteI can't convey how glad I am we don't get snow! but spring is here so it is actually making it's way to you.
ReplyDeleteYou guys just can't catch a break! I remember the city we lived in growing up in Pennsylvania. Downtown was literally downtown. The city was built on a hill otherwise. My mom always hated driving downtown in snowy, icy weather and would avoid it if at all possible. She knew which streets were better than others to try to make the trek up the hill.
