Honorable pumpkins of the bench:

From a recent trip to the orchard,
three gentlemen await.

After supper,
transported to the center of operations.

And the evening grew more and more cold.

Laura making a start.

"I can help. I can help."

Much warmer in here.
The cat is bored and gone.

Not bad.

Really good!

    1. I don't, but the kids roasted the seeds. Boiled them in salt water then baked them golden brown. I hear they're yummy.

  4. I just cannot imagine that kind of work for a pumpkin. They are gorgeous and delightful, but for me way too much energy involved. Glad to hear the seeds were good though.

    Art at its best.

  11. Were those done with a stencil? They are really cool. Lots of patience and skill to carve that cleanly.

Best I could ever do were triangle eyes, nose and jagged teeth.

  12. great carving - Our youngest daughter can out carve either one of us. It's a nice change to see better carvings than back in the day when I trick-or-treated seeing mostly very simple pumpkin faces.

  13. Awesome! Did they do that all with knives or did they have some help from power tools?

    1. Stencils, a stylus to poke through the stencil pattern. So far so goo. Then a small saw to cut through and remove the unnecessary parts. Laura's was perfectly done; Emily bumped a tower, broke it off, and glued it back on. Somehow. Hamilton hit a tooth, broke it off and said Too Bad. It's quite tedious and precise.

  14. Those are awesome pumpkins. I am sure I would be missing at least a finger or two if I tried to do that. Not to mention what's left of my sanity. The best pumpkins we ever had was the year we dressed a whole family of them with sunglasses, hats, earrings, whatever - plus The Triplets - tiny pumpkins with soothers, wrapped in a receiving blanket and lying in the bowl of a plant stand. It's all been downhill since then.
