Report from the yard

The yucca is about to bloom

The clematis is so happy to have a firm foundation.
I expect the trellis to be covered next year.

The last poppy.

A lily with no name.

Some pinks are left.

From Nina.  It blooms purple.  Lovely.

The lavender.

Another purple flower from Nina.

Hamilton used a board to pound the tunnels down.

They have not reappeared.

    1. Until it feels like it, I think. Fifteen or more years ago my sister planted a yucca five feet further down the sidewalk. Never bloomed. Then we noticed this one, an off shoot of the first. Another one came up behind this one. Eventually this one, which is crowding the sidewalk, began blooming. It has a huge blossom. The others have smaller blooms.

    1. Yes, day lilies. I couldn't remember and was too lazy to go ask. Quite a few in bloom today.

  7. I think EC is correct. We have these and that's the only name I know for them.

  12. I love the clematis. Are your pinks the old-fashioned scented kind? Do they smell like cloves?

    1. Yes to both pink questions. I recall them as rock garden flowers from my childhood. Akron, where I grew up in North Hill, was build on hills. Most yards had retaining walls to accommodate the grade and the rock gardens were at shoulder height to little children walking to and from school. I often picked one pink from someone's front border just to smell it all the way to school.
